The History of A Legendary Motorcycle – Kawasaki

Shozo Kawasaki founded the Kawasaki Company in 1896 as shipyard manufacturing oceangoing steel ships. In 1918, Kawasaki turned towards aircraft, building the first metal aircraft in Japan. In 1949, they turned their attention towards the manufacturing of motorcycles and building engines suitable for motorcycles. Their first motorbike called the Meihatsu was manufactured in 1954. Running on a Kawasaki KB-5 engine it was called Meihatsu 125 Deluxe and only two years later in 1956, they stamped the Kawasaki logo onto the side cover of the engine. Another Japanese motorcycle manufacturer at that time, Meguro Motorcycles played a big role in the development of the Kawasaki manufacturing.

Meguro manufactured great bikes for thirty years until they were bought by Kawasaki in 1962, significantly strengthening Kawasaki. In 1060, Kawasaki started their own manufacturing plant and in 1966, the manufacturers introduced their most notable motorcycle to that date, the 650cc W1 model. Although it was not a great success with rivals manufacturing much faster bikes it was their best at the time. They continued with lighter motorcycles such as the 350cc A7 Avenger and 250 cc A1 Samurai with reasonable success. Kawasaki was only really noticed as a player in the motorcycle market in 1969 with their Mach lll, 500 cc H1 model. After releasing two smaller models, they developed the Mach IV in 1972. Their first superbike with the 903 cc engine, the Z1 was introduced in 1973.

One of Kawasaki’s well-known models amongst the favorites for many motorcycle enthusiasts is the Ninja ZX-10R which need little introduction. A favorite supersport bike powered by 200 PS 998 cc liquid- cooled, four-stroke in-line, four-cylinder engine. Utilizing a RAM Air forced intake system, LED lighting, digital multi-function LCD screen, aluminum twin-spar frame, all-cast three-piece swing arm, and Showa fork with damping and compression adjustment it is a motorcycle worth mentioning. Integrated LED signals with the mirrors make transform the biked into a modern, meaner looking machine. Adjustable Ohlins steering damper, horizontal Back-link rear suspension, and Titanium silencer further enhance the race ready character.

Since its inception in 2003 the Kawasaki KX 250F remains a firm favorite with the latest models boasting revised pistons, newer lighter throttle body that adds a tremendous thrill when revving the engine. Riders can expect an explosion of torque and power, the perfect fast acceleration machine. A pure racing machine with a KX FI Calibration Kit provides riders with custom mappings to transform their bike to their own style and preference. Fitted with a separate function Showa fork with spring for right leg and damping for left leg, and a new front suspension delivers a firm, smooth action that conventional forks cannot reproduce, perfectly matching fully adjustable rear shocks.

Keero was really helpful over the phone. He asked a couple of questions and we figured out straight away that the problem was most likely a dead battery. Phil was in the area and arrived in less than 40 minutes. Got a new battery and I was back up and running again. Thanks guys.
